History of Grama Panchayat

Karakurussi Grama Panchayat, located in Sreekrishnapuram block of Mannarkkad taluk of Palakkad district, was formed in 1962. This panchayat, with an area of ​​27 square kilometers, has about 60% flat hilly areas, with Ayyappankavu Hill as the highest point, and about 24% plain areas. The highlands and slopes are covered with gravelly soil. The plain areas are sandy soil, clay soil, and in some areas, alluvial soil. Karakurussi, located in Valluvanad taluk in Malabar, which was part of the erstwhile Madras state, came under Ottapalam taluk and then Mannarkkad taluk after the formation of Kerala. It is surrounded by Kanjirapuzha, Thuppanad river and Nellippuzha rivers and is located a little inland from the Palakkad-Kozhikode road. It is bordered by Thachampara and Mannarkkad panchayats to the north, Kumaramputhur and Karimpuzha panchayats to the west, Kadambazhippuram panchayat to the south, and Karimba and Thachampara panchayats to the east.
