Karakurissi Gramapanchayat

Karakurussi Grama Panchayat, located in Mannarkkad Taluk of Palakkad district in the Sreekrishnapuram block, was formed in 1962. This panchayat, which covers an area of 27 square kilometers, consists of about 60% highland areas, with Ayyappankavu Hill being the highest point. Approximately 24% of the area is flat land. The elevated and pond areas have laterite soil. In the flat areas, sandy soil and clay soil are found, with some places having alluvial soil. Karakurussi, situated in Valluvanad Taluk of the old Madras Presidency region of Malabar, came under Ottapalam Taluk after the formation of Kerala and subsequently under Mannarkkad Taluk. It is surrounded by Kanjirappuzha, Thuppanad Puzha, and Nellippuzha rivers and is located a short distance away from Palakkad-Kozhikode road. To the north, it is bordered by Thachampara and Mannarkkad panchayats; to the west, by Kumaramputhur and Karimpoozha panchayats; to the south, by Kadampazhipuram Panchayat; and to the east, by Karimpooza and Thachampara panchayats.
